Understanding Steam is my personal exploration of Steam, past and present, as seen through the lens of what data I've found via Steam's public APIs.
Why did you make it a blog, though?
I want to make beautiful visualizations of Steam data which tell a story and help me understand Steam as a platform, past and present. Once I've made those pretty pictures... I figured maybe other people would enjoy seeing them, too!
... Should I care?
I think it's nice to see Steam from a different angle once in a while (whether you're a player, a creator, a developer, a publisher, or even running your own digital distribution platform & storefront)!
I want to make Important Business Decisions using this data.
I wouldn't! I'm here to tell stories with charts, and sometimes stories are a little more fun when they're a little less accurate.
I want to show your pictures and charts to other people!
